Our client is an award winning and entrepreneurial firm of Chartered Accountants and Tax Advisors who are based in the Guildford area of Surrey. They typically work with a wide range of clients across London and the South East to include Limited companies, Groups and Partnerships.

The role of Corporate Tax Manager / Assistant Manager will see you leading and managing multiple tax engagements to deliver quality tax services.

This will include the following:

To manage tax compliance for a portfolio of corporate clients, including developing good relationships, understanding requirements, monitoring actual time incurred on work against internal budgets and agreed fees, billing and keeping the client partner aware of status and issues.

  • Advisory focussed, leading client assignments
  • Dealing with more complex compliance cases (review only)
  • Oversee portfolios of more junior staff
  • To identify tax planning opportunities.
  • Involved in team management –including flow of work, allocation of resources, prioritising and development.
  • Managing risk on Corporate Tax compliance and advisory work
  • Reviewing processes and refining or improving these as necessary
  • Liaising with other areas of the team, principally Audit and Accounts but also Corporate Finance and Forensic Accounting
  • Marketing:
  • Involved in and implementing tax initiatives
  • Develop new business opportunities
  • Attending external marketing events and building up contacts
  • Presenting at external seminars

The role includes both compliance work (a review of others also) and some advisory work. You will also be involved in some interesting projects covering all areas of corporate tax to include Employment Tax, VAT, and remuneration schemes including share option schemes and certainly there will be plenty of chance to identify tax planning opportunities.

Ideally you will be a Qualified CTA however if you are a Qualified ACA/ACCA and have commenced your CTA and have the relevant Corporate Tax knowledge your application will also be welcomed. Those qualified by experience will also be considered.  It is envisaged you will have been working for the last two or three years in a Corporate Tax role and have experience of supervising more junior staff.

The salary band of £40,000 - £60,000 has been set by Fletcher George and salary offered will be based on relevant experience and level of qualifications.  Excellent benefits include a competitive salary, parking and a very professional environment which will also offer a candidate a true work/life balance. The role would suit an individual coming from a London firm who wants to step out into Surrey but still work with some high level clients - or perhaps you work more locally but need real Portfolio Management and increased autonomy.
